ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
Fairfield’s Tree Warden, Ken Placko, was awarded a banner designating Fairfield, again, as a “Tree City USA”, part of the Arbor Day Foundation’ ongoing program of recognition for participating municipalities. Ken was also presented with a proclamation from Fairfield’s First Selectman, Michael C. Tetreau consistent with the town’s designation. In coordination with Melanie Marks, Chair of the Greenfield Hill Village Improvement Society’s “Greenfield Hill Cemetery Restoration and Preservation Committee” the town planted several new Dogwood trees along Bronson Road in front of the cemetery’s stonewall. Present at the ceremony were John Jones, President of GHVIS, several members and board members of GHVIS, as well as, Chapter members of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), who help to preserve the historical integrity of these sites.
